Amsterdam, Netherlands, Day 3 - Sandeman's tour, The Hague, Japanese Garden, Clingendael Park

June 7th Epic day of exploring Amsterdam and the Hague.  I walked at least 26 km today (16.1 miles) which is more than the distance of a half marathon.  There's a really beautiful Japanese Garden, only open 6 weeks in the year located in The Hague, a city about an hour's drive away from Amsterdam, so I paid a visit and did a lot of exploration.

8am Woke up, left around 10:30am for the 11:15am Sandeman's tour.  I met Gabby, which was really surprising, what are the odds you meet someone you know from Australia in a tour group in Amsterdam?  Small world.

Oldest Catholic Church, located close to the red light district so that sinners can conveniently be forgiven by giving money to the priests.  Guess things never change.

Was a Catholic Church (Catholicism was banned at one point so they had to look like buildings)

Torture used to be carried out here, today it's a restaurant.  Bon Apetit!

Rembrandt house

Dutch East India Company.  At one point was worth 4 times Google and Apple combined.  Later became bankrupt, and so history repeats.

Coffee shop that sold pot.  Real coffee shops are spelt "koffie", the ones that sell coffee sell pot.

Amsterdam was built on a swamp so that’s why you see sideways buildings.  And some lean forward so that people can take it their goods from the canals and into their attics using pulleys.

Another warm sunny day in Amsterdam!

3pm Caught the train to The Hague, return ticket was 24 euros.
